About Amanda: Welcome to my practice, where I am dedicated to guiding individuals along their journey towards self-discovery, self-compassion and increased acceptance. As a registered psychotherapist (qualifying), my goal is to provide you with a compassionate and safe space to curiously explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. My approach is founded within empathy, mindfulness, and values-based living.
I focus on providing support for individuals experiencing OCD, phobias and anxiety. Additionally, I provide support for difficulties in emergeing adulthood life transitions, such as school transitions, career changes, job loss and job changes, stress, and difficult or repetitive thoughts. I work from an Acceptance and Commitment therapy lens, which provides a framework for understanding and accepting difficult thoughts and emotions while taking action that aligns with areas you value most in life. We will explore mindfulness techniques to help you observe your thoughts and feelings, acceptance strategies to make room for your whole experience, and behavior change methods to help you cultivate psychological flexibility and resilience.
In our therapeutic space, you will find a safe and compassionate environment where you can explore your experiences without judgment. We will collaboratively work towards clarifying your values, identify barriers that pose challenges in your life, and develop practical skills to navigate challenges in a way that aligns with your values. While I typically use an ACT framework, I truly believe in tailoring your therapeutic experience to fit your needs. I offer an integrative approach between ACT, CBT (explore patterns in thoughts, behaviours emotions), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), and Solution-Focused Therapy (utilizing your strengths).
